Welcome to Burbi — handcrafted sterling silver jewellery inspired by nature, horses, and the moments that take your breath away.
Our Story
Burbi was born from a moment of pure magic. When our daughter Abbie was a baby, her very first word was "Burbi" — she pointed up to the sky, trying to say "Birdie". That word stuck, and when we came to name our jewellery brand, there was only ever one choice. Burbi is named for that moment of wonder — and if you look closely at our logo, you'll spot the hummingbird that inspired it all.
A Family Business, Made with Love
Burbi is very much a family affair. I'm Paul, and together with my partner Clare and our daughter Abbie, we pour everything into this little business we're so proud of. Between us, we bring decades of jewellery experience — I've spent 20 years in the trade myself — though none of our journeys here were straightforward. We each had careers in other fields before jewellery called us in a different direction.
Clare is truly the heart of Burbi — she's the face of the business, managing everything from our events and customer relationships to the day-to-day running of the brand. She also brings an instinctive eye for what our customers love, helping to shape the designs and product choices that make it onto our stands. Behind the scenes, I handle the trade stand setup, getting everything in place so Clare can work her magic and make it all look beautiful. I also look after the website, so if you're reading this, hello! I work away in the workshop too, designing and handcrafting the pieces, though you'll often find me at the shows as well.
And as Abbie has grown up, she's brought her own skills to the table — helping us navigate the digital world, from social media to Meta, keeping Burbi connected with customers online. She's even started creating her own wire wrap pieces, so the making gene is clearly catching!
We started out on markets, learning our craft, getting to know our customers, and falling deeper in love with what we do. Today, we're proud to attend some of the UK's most prestigious equestrian and horticultural events — from the RHS flower shows to the great horse trials and showing championships — and more each year. These events bring us face to face with customers who share our passion for quality and craftsmanship, and we love every minute of it.
Burbi Online was created so that we can be in even more places — bringing our jewellery to customers across the UK and beyond, wherever you are.
Handcrafted in Our Own Workshop
In 2018, I picked up the tools and started making jewellery myself. I still remember the thrill of successfully soldering my first jump ring — it felt like a revelation. Since then, I've built a small workshop where many of our pieces are lovingly handcrafted. Every piece is made with sterling silver and hallmarked at the Birmingham Assay Office, so you can wear it with complete confidence.
